Todd Buras
Associate Professor and Chair of the Philosophy Department at Baylor University
Todd Buras is Associate Professor and Chair of the Philosophy Department at Baylor University. His PhD was awarded by Yale in 2004. He also holds a Master of Arts in Religion from the Yale Divinity School. His primary area of research and publication is 17th Century Scottish Philosophy and related topics in contemporary analytical philosophy. He is co-editor of an Oxford University Press book in this field and the author of peer-reviewed articles that have appeared in such journals as Journal of Philosophy, Journal of the History of Philosophy, Philosophical Quarterly, and Philosophy and Phenomenological Research. In recent years, he has been involved in developing philosophy curricula for high school students and is presently preparing that material for publication. In 2021, he co-directed a summer seminar for secondary educators sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities entitled Disputatio and the Pursuit of Wisdom in the Humanities; in 2023, he will co-direct a summer institute on the same themes.
